About Me

A photo editor at Agence France-Presse based at company headquarters in Paris, France, Ian has garnered 16 years of experience in the field of photojournalism.

 

Formerly a photographer at the international photo agency European Pressphoto Agency, he freelanced for Reuters and EPA in London before joining EPA as full-time staff in Paris from 2008 to 2022.

Of Anglo-American descent, Ian grew up in Paris where his first steps in the field began covering street protests. He went on to complete a Bachelor's degree in Journalism at the London College of Communication with a focus on video production.


Past assignments include French presidential coverage (domestic and abroad as part of the French presidential press corps), twelve Cannes Film Festivals, fifteen Roland Garros French Tennis Opens, seven Tour de France cycling races, the 2004 and 2012 Olympic Games, the 2011 Royal Wedding, Nelson Mandela's state funeral in South Africa, Paris Terror attacks (2015/2016), and various spot news stories around France (breaking news, politics, sports, fashion, arts & culture).

His work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Time Magazine, The Guardian, The Times, Le Figaro, Paris-Match, Stern, The International Herald Tribune, Sports Illustrated, VSD, El Mundo, among others.
